Spark Core - Local control

As to what the green flashing means, and what you might be able to do about it: http://docs.spark.io/troubleshooting/#troubleshoot-by-color-flashing-green

In your file path, there is this, which might be interesting:

C:\Users\Student>

Are you on a school network? Often, you require a special username/password to connect to those. The wifi chip on the Core isn't capable of handling those, as is stated in the above mentioned docs.
Also, what are the settings of your accesspoint? Which type and channel are you using? 2.4GHz/5GHz, channel <11, a/b/g/n/ac?

Try to give us a much information as possible, rather than "I tried some things, and it didn't work". With only that information, there is very little we can do to help. Also, include any and all steps you've already taken. There's no point in telling you things you might have already tried several times.

Have you carefully read, understood and followed this

http://docs.spark.io/connect/##connecting-your-core-connect-over-usb

http://docs.spark.io/troubleshooting/

Can you post the full response of your computer when you provide the credentials over USB (but remove any confidental data)?

Darn, @Moors7 is just too quick for me

As for this

In case you're behind a "captive portal" (search for this term on the forum) I've got a solution that might work for you too

no Flashing green when i am at home
i know that i am unable to set it up in school easily so i gave up doing it in school
i am using DIR-868L (D-Link)
Mixed 802.11ac, 802.11n and 802.11a 5GHz
Channel Width 20/40/80MHz

and i did the troubleshooting

sorry i am quite new to this
it’s for my FYP. Have never touch a spark core before.

Just to be sure, is that:

There is no flashing green at home.

or

No, it's flashing green at home as well.

?

Seems like you've got a decent router. Would you be willing to try out some different settings? According to the docs, The Spark Core is 802.11b/g. Could you try enabling those modes if possible? Also, enabling a 2.4GHz channels would be good, since that's what the Core requires if I'm not mistaken. Finally, keep the channel below 11, since the TI chip can't handle channels above that.
Give that a try and let us know if that helped.

ohh i will try with 2.4GHz
and it’s flashing green forever as long as i set the wifi setting with usb

Mixed 802.11n, 802.11g and 802.11b
20/40MHz
1 channel
WPA/WPA2-PSK

still fail
flashing blue when trying to connect via wireless
the only time i work was with my friend wireless mobile broadband

That means it's waiting for credentials. Have you tried providing them through either the Mobile app or via USB?
Also try a factory reset, that never hurts.

@Jeffery, make sure your password has no spaces and is shorter than 32 characters. Your SSID should not have spaces either. Try 802.11g mode ONLY to start with. You may want to do a factory reset on the Core and restart from there.

@Jeffery, which one of the two have you selected on the Core, when you did provide your credentials via USB (2) WPA or (3) WPA2 - or do you mean you've tried both?

factory reset many times done it via mobile app and usb

i will try 802.11g mode only when i get home and my password should not be wrong.
factory reset many times before.

only tried with WPA2 will try WPA when i get home.

oh ya where should i post if i need help with my spark core project?

Here in this forum, I’d guess

Just:

  • Do a good deal of research on your problem generally and in this forum, if anybody had a similar question already.
  • Just make sure that you choose a descriptive topic title in the best fitting section.
  • Describe your needs, problem and already made efforts as good as possible.
  • If you have problems with your code, post it here along with error messages (if any)

but i dont understand how does it work
my project needs me use c# to control and get info from spark core puting it back to the c#

OK? :flushed:

In this case, we'd need some more background about yourself and your general knowledge in the field of programming.

Since this

might somehow suggest, that you are about to take something on that might be too big for you, if you haven't at least some degree of programming experience.
This is a :spark: Spark focused forum and not a general programming school.
But this shouldn't mean we won't be there to help, but try taking smaller bites that you can chew and then gradually push your limits.
