Can't claim cores. Getting solid magenta

Welcome to the club man! My cool white spark cores are still serving me well :smiley: :smiley: :smiley:

you got it right.

make sure you do:

1.) sudo npm update -g spark-cli
2.) spark flash --usb cc3000 #it will blink magenta and eventually revert to yellow
3.) spark flash --usb tinker
4.) spark flash --factory tinker

The 4 steps above will be sufficient :smile:

I will assume the same will apply to me as well since both of my cores are kickstarter versions as well. Just finally getting a chance to use them. If I ever get the CLI installed I will try the update. Now to get the cliโ€ฆ

If you need a tutorial:

Windows: https://community.spark.io/t/tutorial-spark-cli-on-windows-01-oct-2014/3112

Mac: https://community.spark.io/t/tutorial-spark-cli-on-mac-osx-25-july-2014/5225

Yeah, unfortunately, Iโ€™ve been through that tutorial and many others. Every error I fix a new one pops up. My computer needs a reformat so I am going to to try again with fresh installs. Hopefully that will fix the issues I am having. Have to be away for work a couple days, hopefully this weekend things will pan out.

HI, Iโ€™m experiencing the same problem, I simply cannot get the Coreโ€™s out of the solid Magenta. Unfortunately Iโ€™m not getting the spark-cli installed on Windows nor on my raspi.

What to do now ? How will I ever get these 2 jewels to work again ?

@kennethlimcp any idea ?

Thanks
Rudy

Hey @rudyvan,

If you can get DFU installed, we can do the patch as well!

Let me know? :slight_smile:

Hi, I do have the dfu-util working on the PC. How can I flash the cores with only dfu-util ?
Kr,
Rudy

@kennethlimcp I just did the dfu-util reinstall of the firmware, I got both Coreโ€™s back to work. Thanks for showing me the right way to get both Coreโ€™s back.
KR,
Rudy

These commands no longer work. I could no longer flash new firmware (timeout), so I did a factory restore and now it shows the same behaviour as in the video.

Found some up-to-date information here: https://community.spark.io/t/core-wont-connect-to-wi-fi/11095/9?u=krophi

Itโ€™s incredible frustrating when the hardware suddenly stops working and most of the fixes posted in the forum no longer work.

@krophi,

feel free to open a new thread none of the older solutions work or if you have new issues in future :smile:

You probably have an old core like me :smiley:
