Another account already owns this device. Ask the owner to release the device before continuing

I released it; you should be able to set it up as a new device now.

Hi @rickkas7 , I was searching on the web how to reset a particle photon because of the error message being owned by someone else and found this thread. I found a photon#1 in my office that was used previously from another employe that already left 3 years ago, and now I want to give to this phothon another use. The ID is 32001c000b47363433353735.
Could you help me with that ?

I released it; you should be able to set it up as if it was a new device now.

Hi- Would it be possible for you to release my device (id: 0a10aced202194944a053ca8)? Thank you in advance.

That device was part of a product and I released it. It was not claimed to a specific account. You should be able to set it up as a new device now,

Hi- I have another device that is registered to another product (or user- not sure). Would you be able to release it? The id is e00fce6822af0eb56d068029 -- Thank you

Done

Sorry to keep the parade going, but I also have an old Photon1 with ID 400027000b47343337373738 that I scrounged out of a lab recycle bin and I'd like to be able to use it. I'd appreciate a release.

Released. It should be possible to set it up as a new device at setup.particle.io now.

I have a Photon 2 that I released from my account a week ago. I'm trying to claim it in another account and it reports that it is still owned by "another account". Can you help release it? 0a10aced202194944a052da8

The P2 was unclaimed but it was still in a product. I removed it from the product and you should be able to set it up now.

Thank you. Is that something I should have done myself?

Yes, you could have done that yourself, but since I had to look into the device's account to see if that was the problem I just did it while I was there. For Wi-Fi devices, you must unclaim and remove from product. For cellular devices, you must do those two things, and also Release (not Deactivate) the SIM card.

Hi rickkas7, could you please unlock the device: 300022001347363336383437
I got a couple of old Photons and would like to start some small DIY projects with them.

Much appreciated!

Done. For Wi-Fi devices that are claimed to an account, but not part of a product, you can do this yourself using the secret setup tool . Select the device, open Advanced Setup Options and check the Force claim a Wi-Fi device using a claim code option. Because the normal setup tool at setup.particle.io adds devices to a product now, force claim typically only works for older Photon 1 devices or very old Argons that have not been used in a long time.

Hello! I forgot the login and password on the old account. device id is e00fce68abfee694198d0de6 and e00fce68e701f47cf7b7c9a2.

can you fix?

Done, Since the devices were not part of a product you could have used the force claim option, above, to do it yourself, as well.
