I have started to run into issues ordering photons.
Are photons still ‘live’? Is there a timescale for them being discontinued?

Nope, there isn't for the foreseeable future.

The Photon kits (with the breadboard and extra parts) will be discontinued, but there is no plan to discontinue the Photon (with headers or without headers) at this time.
The Photon with headers should be back in stock in mid-February.
Out of interest, I have circa 600 Photons without headers in trays, which I am happy to sell per tray. We have moved to the P1 and so don’t require as many Photons in store moving forward.
