Particle Electron cannot connect to cloud

#1

My account is developers@pyloncity.com,
my device 22[…redacted…]36 cannot connect to cloud and is blinking cyan and orange.
I cannot force to change key to ffffffffffff…fffe.
I keep activating and deactivating the sim card with end of 0810.

Please! help me to solve this!

Regards
Pierce

#2

Why not?
Blinking orange indicates an issue with keys. Give ‘particle doctor’ a shot in the CLI. Resetting your SIM won’t do anything to alleviate that.

#3

particle doctor does not work, I need admin to force change the key in the server.

#4

Huh? What?

Try (in DFU Mode)

particle keys server
particle keys doctor <yourDeviceID>

in some directory where you have write access.

That’s not helping. Post the error output

I did particle keys server before your reply, I am very sure about that. But to follow what you told me to debug the thing, I tried again. Basically, I am pretty sure that admin need to change something in server, and thanks for help.

Could you try logging out of the CLI, and then log in again?

#8

attempting to add a new public key for device 22002f001951343334363036
submitting public key succeeded!
Okay! New keys in place, your device should restart.

This seems to be successful, but that does not make particle electron connected. Please, I need admin to help me to change the key in the server, please!

#9

What exactly is the device doing now?
Try ‘particle update’ and ‘particle flash --usb tinker’ as well, making sure your CLI is on the latest version.

Not quite sure what admin you’re looking for, since there hasn’t been a need for that as long as I’ve been around. The command says that it has submitted the keys correctly, so that part should be okay.
Considering you’re (de-)activated the SIM multiple times, make sure that’s setup correctly first.

#10

Both these steps are successful, but still, the device keeps blinking cyan, and won’t connect to particle cloud.

#11

cyan, orange, cyan, orange

#12

I am sure that I have set up everything correctly, I got 20 devices setup, and I have resolved most of the common issues, I need to ask you here because I really cannot solve, and I saw someone encounter the same issue, and then somebody changed the key for him, then issue was resolved, that is why I am asking your help to change the key.

#13

I can recall @Dave doing some reprovisioning for someones device for some reason or other.
Not sure whether this is the case here too.

#14

Heya!

So I see that you’ve been able to add keys for the device, but I don’t see attempts from the device to connect. Try updating the server key:

#put the device in DFU mode again, and run:
particle keys server

Thanks,
David

#15

He already has

and next but one post

#16

Hey~
I did that several times, but electron won’t connect.
Could this be a hardware problem?

From the device, the LED is blinking cyan for a long time, and then orange for 2 times,
then back to cyan for long, and orange,
suddenly green,
cyan for long time, orange…

#17

Hmm, do you have the battery connected, an adequate power supply, and the antenna all connected?

#18

Yes, I do. I can keep it connected

#19

Hi @microrune,

Hmm, so, I still can’t see the attempts from the device to hit the Particle cloud. So although you’ve set the server key, and have things connected, it’s not getting online. This makes me think maybe the device is in the wrong state (try particle device doctor ), or the sim card isn’t properly activated (can you try a different sim card maybe?).

I’m looking into any potential issues with your sim card to see if I can help there. If you have another sim card to test with that’d be helpful as well.

Thanks,
David

#27

Hi David, I always stuck at setup.particle.io. In the page, it said, almost done, Just name your electron. Then I cannot rename it.

Particle device doctor does not help, and as it is night time here in Singapore, I cannot try another sim at the moment.

I suspect what goes wrong was the state in the server instead of the state in the device.
