I am thinking about using a Particle device in an industrial environment because of the possibility of OTA updates and the flexibility (Wifi/Ethernet/Cellular). The use case will be a simple furnace (up to 150 °C). It should switch/dim the lights, read sensors, receive the temperature from an external pid controller via RS485 and transfer sensor data to the cloud. Do you think this is a good idea?
Or would it be better to use an industrial Arduino and just use the Particle device to connect to the internet and transfer the data?
I posted this a while back to see if there was any feedback - I intend it for light industrial as you describe above - tell me what you think, I haven't made any yet - still validating the design ...
