I spent half an hour trying to get my Particle to connect with the Android App. (Samsung Note II, Android 4.4)
Then I discovered an important additional step:
- Before running the Particle App, switch off the “Smart network switch” option at the top of the Wifi screen in Android Settings. Then the rest of the setup instructions run like a dream.
Why? Because with this option Android checks to see if it can get an internet connection via the Particle and if not, it tries to switch networks back to a wifi connection where it can get an internet connection! Obviously an unconfigured Particle cannot yet see the internet.
