I used Setup tool: Device Setup | Tools | Particle and things went smoothly. I have my Boron showing number for ICCID: IMEI: and Serial number in the Console.
Although the banner says "your device is now online" it shows offline on "status" and stays blinking Green.
It's a Boron that I bought several years ago and never activated. It says OS 0.9. Clearly needs an upgrade.
But in any case, check the status of the SIM in the SIM cards tab in the console if you used that tool to see if the SIM status is active. It can take a while for certain SIMs.
Hi Rick,
Yes, I used https://setup.particle.io/ multiple times with my Boron connected via USB. The first time I did it was several weeks ago.
It seems to go through tjhe process successfully:
The device show as "Boron CDC Mode - Paired"
and says "Your device was detected successfully.
It goes inrto blinking yellow DFU mode and tries to update to TInker and OS 6.1.1
then says: Your device has been updated successfully and is out of DFU mode
Then:
Your device was named and added to a product successfully.
Your device is ready to connect and should be blinking green
Finally:
"We’ve sent the request to our cellular network operator and the SIM Card in your device is activating, you can exit setup since activation can take up to 24 hours."
So, I've waited >24hrs after several runs though https://setup.particle.io/ . It always goes through without error but then waits, blinking green. The SIM says activated but the device never gets on the cloud, eg: won't respond to pings. I tried deactivating the SIM and then reactivating it and it again says Active, but still not connected. Should I try to release it or unclaim it?
