I believe it has been about a year since the last request for and answer that support would be in a future release. Could someone please let those still waiting when this future enhancement might be? Can't use P2/Photon2 on WiFi in a higher educational environment using Eduroam without WPA Enterprise support.
Adding WPA Enterprise to the P2/Photon 2/M-SoM is not currently a scheduled feature and there is no plan to add support for it at this time.
I agree with @armor.
We have lost several customers in the mining industry because we can't support WPA Enterprise.
As companies are utilizing increasingly sophisticated WiFi deployments we are finding ourselves slowly being push out of the market.
I hope Particle reconsiders adding support for WPA Enterprise to Gen 4 devices so we can continue to develop competitive solutions for industrial partners.
@cethalon I believe there are 2 workarounds. First, add an ethernet adaptor to the P2/Photon2 device. This adds costs but is a more robust and secure approach. This is what we are doing with new products based upon P2. WiFi is the backup network. Second, don't use a P2/Photon2 and instead use Particle for Linux on a RPi device which will support WPA Enterprise. I would love to know what the community experience is of Particle for Linux on a RPi4 or similar.
Thanks for the info.
Our products are often installed on heavy machinery in rough conditions, so sadly the Ethernet adapter would not be practical. Even our low profile WiFi antennas routinely get destroyed out in the field.
This is the first I've heard of Particle for Linux, I'll take a look at it as a possible alternative.
