Setup stuck at "Organize your Particle Device

Hey everyone, I'm having a few issues with the setup:

During setup , it is stuck at “Organize your Particle Device” after picking the organization/product name, the 3 squres loading, did the sudo apt update and upgrade , rebooted but nothing.

Also my light seems to always be green but not quite cyan or magenta (wifi is connected) is there something else I’m supposed to be doing?

At device page eSim says not installed, is that something related to the stalled startup?

Thanks

Hey Cchateauneuf

Thanks for writing in and sorry it’s not working.

I looked into the problem - its happening because something went wrong during the CLI setup process and the information needed to configure the eSIM was somehow not downloaded into the device.

Can you try going through the setup experience as noted below and see if this still happens? If so, we’ll need the logs from the CLI tool (it outputs a link when it runs) to check.

Good news and bad news - I’ve not seen this before, so its either an act of some form of mischief going on, or a unique bug :frowning:

Thanks

Nick.

Redoing the CLI setup seems to have worked, Thanks!

It started as “initial setup finished” this time, got magenta light, when checking the particle-tachyon-ril-ctl state it says SIM Disabled, is that something I need to to anything extra on?

I’m in Canada and just re did the setup about 20min ago, in case that matters

TIA

Hi @Cchateauneuf

Regarding your SIMs, the command particle-tachyon-ril-ctl state should show “Connected” when cellular is up and running.

You noted one of the SIMs said not installed in Console. One way to reattempt the eSIM install process:

  1. Ensure your Tachyon has a stable internet connection
  2. Run systemctl restart particle-linux to restart the Particle service
  3. Wait for up to 10 minutes – the SIMs included with Tachyon install automatically. Usually it takes 1-2 minutes.
  4. Check your Tachyon Device page > SIMs > eSIM Status. One eSIM Status should show Enabled – this is the one your device is trying to use.

When your LED turns cyan, you know your device is connected to cellular

Hey I just turned ir back on after a while and it’s cyan, thanks!
