Received my Beta Tachyon today :)

Received the board earlier today and completed the part.cl/setup-tachyon guide without much issues, except a small one that I managed quite easily ('Step 2: Device Check' required unplugging and plugging back the USB for tachyon to get picked up).

I went with the desktop approach to see how well it performs in a desktop/home theatre like environment, but unfortunately found issues on the first boot.

  1. My monitor with type-c connector would not work with the tachyon, board was booting fine judging by the Cyan LED. Going the HDMI and USB-C hub route solved the issue.
  2. No audio output through HDMI nor the USB-C hub's audio jack. Settings only shows Dummy Output as an option in Settings->Sound->Output Device.
  3. Tachyon seems to crash while trying to use the keyboard below, it consists of a dongle and seems to work okay if I use it as an air mouse, but once I flip it to use the keyboard, the tachyon becomes unresponsive and blacks out the screen after around 2 mins (works perfectly fine in RPI4), Logitech keyboard with built in touch pad works perfectly fine.

Overall, I'm quite impressed of the build quality of this board and looking forward to exploring it more in the coming days, but also hope these issues will get resolved and I can some what assist you with gathering some logs :slight_smile:

That keyboard remove looks super fun! Can you share the model number of it so we can look into it? I would guess there is something small in the config that doesn't like whatever is happening when the keyboard is turned on (from being off).

For the USB-C monitor mode, can you let us know what you connected it to? It depends if the monitor can provide the right USB-C power - if it can't, you need the hub to inject the power as you saw. You can use a HUB with USB-C PD input and USB-C output or HDMI output - glad this worked for you!

For the audio output, this works over BT but there is an issue at the moment with audio in the desktop image - we're working on a fix at the moment.

Hey Nick!

The keyboard model is: Wechip W2, it sure doesn't like the keyboard switching, unsure about the config and where to even look for it.

My monitor is: Acer Nitro XV345CURV3 34" VA WQHD 180Hz 1ms Ultrawide, it should be powerful enough for tachyon as it works without issues on
with 2 other laptops, it can provide 60w PD if I remember correctly.

Haven't tried BT audio, but hope that you mean fix for HDMI audio as well :slight_smile:
