Hi! I just received my Tachyon and went through the setup procedure, but to my surprise i’m getting no video out. I’ve ruled out the display, it can’t be the USB-C hub (it’s the one i received with my Tachyon), i’ve tried with both batteries, with and without external power (i’ve got a 65W brick and adequate cable), tried connecting the display before booting, tried connecting the display after booting, even tried a USB-C to HDMI cable. It boots fine, connects to WiFi, i can access it through the Particle Console; i really don’t know what i’m doing wrong. Anyone with similar problems managed to get it working? Device ID is 422a06000000000009abbdd9 if that’s helpful at all.
Hey fwekk
Not entirely sure what is going on here but I want to confirm that you installed the ‘desktop’ build of the OS and not the headless? The ‘headless’ build doesn’t have the desktop environment installed and the HDMI is turned off by default.
Would you mind uploading your kernel log from the device?
(the output of dmesg - I normally log in via ADB and then cat it to a file, then “adb pull” from the host computer - I LOVE adb however…)
What we are looking for is the HDMI EDID parsing output.
I believe you can try the simpler desktop using these commands on the desktop build:
- systemctl stop gdm3
- systemctl start init_display.service
For the headless build, to start wayland, just run:
- systemctl start init_display.service
Thanks
Nick.
Hi Nick,
I don’t really understand how, but when i booted it the next day it worked fine, and it’s worked ever since! Didn’t do anything different.
