Photon frozen with steady white light

Today I received my Photon and was able to claim it via the app. The device shows up in my device list.
After claiming the device it seemed that it went through an auto-OTA update process (flashing cyan lights).
Now, the Photon shows a steady white light, I am not seeing the device as online in my app.
I tried to reset the device, but whatever I do (setup+reset button combinations), in the end it switches back to steady white.
Is my Photon bricked or what could I do reset it?

Can you get it into safe mode, and/or DFU-mode?

DFU mode as in holding SETUP+RESET, then releasing RESET and waiting for yellow flashing? Yes, this is the only mode I can switch to.

That should help getting it to work. If you’ve got the CLI installed, could you give particle update a try when it’s in DFU mode?

I did install the CLI and did a particle update:

rainer$ particle update

Your device is ready for a system update.
This process should take about 30 seconds. Here goes!

! System firmware update successfully completed!

Your device should now restart automatically.
You may need to re-flash your application to the device.

The photon still shows steady white :confused:

When you enter DFU mode does the light flash the same way it does on the videos in the online docs, or is it much faster?
