I have been researching the use of a USB Type-C female to Micro USB Male Adaptor for the Photon 2 and haven’t seen any other posts on this topic. Are there any issues with using this adaptor and a USB-C cable to power the Photon 2?
I have a project that would benefit from using a USB-C cable. I have found the 20W USB-C Charger connection to be a common power source. Are there any concerns with this approach? If there are any issues, what are they? If there are issues, what might be a solution for using a USB-C cable approach? The cable would only need to power the device as the firmware would already be flashed.
The Photon 2 is just USB-2 Micro B so the inexpensive adapters from USB-C (female) to USB Micro B (male) should work fine if you want to be able to plug it into a USB-C cable.
This is the case for all USB Micro B devices, including Gen 3 (Boron, Argon), and Gen 2 (Photon 1, Electron).
Hi @rickkas7, thanks so much for your reply. I wanted to double-check to ensure this adaptor wouldn’t cause any issues for the Photon 2. In terms of the standard 20W power block, does this also have any impact on the Photon 2? What if it’s a 50W or lower than 20W?
