I have just received Photon and I am pretty new to the micro device.
I wonder whether I can use Apple 5w power adapter connected with micro-USB cable directly to power Photon. I also wonder whether it’s okay to use the powering method for long time (>month).

I don’t know that exact power adapter, but when it is meant to power a USB device, it will be just fine for the Photon even for long term use.
As @ScruffR said, the device is suppose to be USB powered and the Apple USB wall adapter is just for that.
Where is becomes an issue is trying to power external devices through the Particle board. The board itself cannot take the full 5 watts from the power supply.
