P2 Altium library

Hi -

Does anyone have know where I can het the P2 Altium library? I can redraw them if need be, juts looking to save some time

Alternatively, is the pinout maybe same as on the P1?

Regards.
Friedl.

The footprint is the same as the P1, however beware of a few pin name changes that are listed in the migration guide.

If you can convert from Eagle CAD, the P2 is in hardware libraries. It was made by taking the P1 and renaming a few pins, so really that’s all there is to it.

Hi @rickkas7 -

EDIT: It seems this can be done on SnapEda website. I uploaded the entire Eagle library and then you can select the models you want to export and convert. I am testing the P2 one now, will update the post when I know whether it was successful.

I found P1 footprint that I can use in Altium, so I will swap the pins as needed then. As long as all the pads are present that should be ok then. It was my plan-B

ps: I have not been able to import Eagle libraries successfully into Altium before, would be interesting to know if any other members maybe have. I will try again as a plan-C

Many thanks!
Friedl.

The Altium libraries in the Github don’t seem to contain anything. I’ve used Altium for a while and know how to import part libraries, but these files don’t have any parts in them.

The Altium libraries in hardware-libraries are not maintained and haven’t been updated in 6 years. You’ll need to convert the Eagle CAD parts or use one of the techniques in a previous post (such as using SnapEDA) earlier in this topic.

Hi @Rockwolfe -

Welcome to the Particle forum and thanks for posting.

I have been using Altium for a bit now as well. With regards to to importing/converting symbols/footprints from Eagle to Altium my advice is rather redraw. I have attempted this several times and the handful of times that it did not present a million errors, I ended up spending quite a bit of time doing repairs/cleanup.

Do you have the SamacSys extension installed in Altium. I am not too fond of it, but if you are in a hurry it helps quite a bit to find parts that are not listed in Altium vault.

Thanks for the advice. Yea I’ve definitely spent more time trying to download/convert than it would have taken to just recreate, so that’s my plan now. I haven’t heard of SamacSys. I usually use SnapEDA

Hi -

SamacSys works well, but what I do not like is the way it integrates. It creates it’s own managed library and for the life of my, I cannot seem to save to parts to my permanent workspace. It then saves the parts you use in it’s own library and sometime if you want to use a part with a similar footprint, it will tell you the part is already in the library and you should use it from there. Now where exactly that “there” is, I do not know, haha.

There was another extension I used before, might have been the snapEDA one. But honestly, if it is parts I see myself using in future and they are not in Altium libraries, I just draw them.
