Hi All,
I have redesigned a wireless remote from using the P0 module to now using the P2 module. I have undergone FCC/IC certification for both of the units and have hit a snag.
Since the P0 was only 2.4GHz WiFi that is all that was tested on that version of the remote, and the same 2.4GHz testing was also done with the P2 module. However the lab did not schedule any testing time for the 5GHz signals that the P2 is capable of.
Due to time and monetary costs of additional testing, I am curious if there is a way to turn off the 5GHz band through user firmware. The only reason we have WiFi on the remote is for firmware updates so I am not concerned about higher data rates. And since the P0 version was 2.4GHz only this would not be a change for the customer either.
Is there a way to disable the 5GHz band on large quantities of these units? I am hoping there is a solution through user firmware as this would be the easiest to implement.
Thanks,
