Making smaller Particle Electron

Dear all

I am an avian researcher who developing a bird tracker based on Particle Electron (basically detecting cellular ID and sending it via webhook to my server). My targeted bird species are smallish and the weight/size aspect of it is very important. I need to produce a smaller footprint Electron by stripping all not crucial components but keeping what is needed for functionality. E.g. cutting off microUSB and maybe other parts of Electron but of course keeping the crucial parts to be able to reflash it over-the-air. Does anybody know who is doing so? Maybe something on github with small-but-functional Electron CAD design files? Iā€™d appreciate your help.

Are you aware of he E-series? Those are meant for SMD placement and should thus be smaller.

I think the battery weight is worth considering early on.
The proposed Gen3 hardware (Boron) is worth a look also.

maybe consider VHF transmitters.
