Hi folks… I am desperately trying to find some head or less photons or other equivalence.… I’ve been trying to use the argon’s… But there are two things about them I really don’t like … One is the fact that they don’t come without headers as an option… Two is the very diddly external Wi-Fi antenna.…Using an argon requires additional components (a circuit board or some other type of adapter to use with the existing leads) … It also requires physical mounting of the antenna. Any chance you’ll be building more photons without headers?

There won’t be a headerless Argon because there are components on the bottom of the module. The Photon only had pads on the bottom so it’s possible to make it with castellated pads. That’s not possible with the Argon.
The Photon No Headers is only available in trays of 50 (PHNTRAYNOH). However, that SKU is affected by the global chip shortage and is not currently available.
The single-unit Photon without headers has been discontinued.
Rick thanks for the response… and thanks for the explanation of why headerless wouldn’t work on the Argon… I should’ve thought about that because I’ve use that same NRF chipset in other projects . I still do feel it’s a step backwards for prototyper’s… It was so easy to velcro , tape or sew a photon into a project and wire directly to the pins… It might be nice to at least sell some sort of a low cost low profile interposer circuit board that you could solder (or socket) your Argon to to make it more usable in the kind of projects.
We had that argument since the inception of the Argon (and Boron/Xenon for the same matter).
Having headerless versions would have opened up other avenues regardless of there being components at the bottom or not (e.g top mounted headers to plug a OLED FeatherWing ontop, PCB cut-outs for the castellated edges that are there on the boards anyhow, …)
Adafruit sells some of their Feather form factor controller boards with unsoldered headers despite them having components at the bottom too
Rick,
DO you mind my asking what your role is? Are you a user or do you work for particle?… I ask because I’m trying to find someone a particle who will listen to my concern here .about not having a headerless solution whatever it is. Perhaps they still need to offer the headerless photons. Thanks

@Johncohn, I don’t think Particle have stopped producing the Photon with no headers, but they just can’t supply at the moment due to global IC supply issues.
That said, I may have made your day:

Harry … thanks very much for the pointer . That link doesn’t work for me . Is it correct ?

Hi John, it could be that @UMD wanted to give you this link, but I can't be sure:
Also, yes, @rickkas7 works for Particle.
Cheers!
