Cannot set up network via Android App

Hi all,

Trying to set up a network on my Photon via the Android App. I was able to set it up via USB CLI after some amount of effort, flashed the firmware, etc. However, for the project I’m working on, I’ll need people to be able to set up via Android App, and I just can’t get it to work.

I set the Photon to listening mode by holding down the “Setup” button for 3 seconds. I can confirm that it is flashing blue, and a WiFi network shows up with the Photon name as the SSID as well. However, no matter what I do, I can’t get it to show up in the Android App to add settings for the network.

Help?

Is your Android phone somehow searching for 5GHz network?

Hmm, I don’t think so? I guess I wouldn’t know for sure, how would I check that? It can see the Photon as a wifi access point, so I’m guessing it can “see” it.

So i guess it’s listed in the Particle mobile app? What is the error when you are attempting to configure wifi credentials?
