Any plans for the Tracker SoM with south america modem?

Hi there,

Is there any plan for developing the Tracker SoM and Tracker One usable in South America? I’m really looking forwards using them but so far the modem appear to work only on North America.

The first phase will be to roll the T523 to all of EMEAA, not just Europe.

As you’ve discovered, the T502 will not work in Central or South America, so a LTE Cat 1 (with 2G/3G fallback) with Americas frequencies would be a logical addition in the future, but there is no set timetable for it.

Hi Rick,
I am looking through the documentation and if I’m correct, the BRN314 is to be discontinued and replaced by the B Series, non of which has support for South America.

Do you know if Particle plans to include Supply Secure devices that are supported in South America? In theory the B523 and B524 support the 2G and 3G bands that would work here, but will they actually work?

There is no immediate plan to add a LTE Cat 1 SKU with support for Americas, though it is an obvious gap in the product line that would make sense to fill.

The B524 only has support for EMEAA frequencies, including for 2G/3G. For example, it supports 900/1800/2100 MHz for 3G. However, many countries in the Americas use 850/1900 MHz for 3G. We do not generally recommend the B524 in South America, however it is possible to use it in certain countries that use EMEAA frequencies. The country details page shows if there is band fit in a particular country or not.

Thanks for the response! That’s what I feared.
I really hope Particle does not drop South America as customer, but I see no upgrade plan in hardware in the new Supply Secure offer.
