52840 and Zigbee (not thread)

Does anyone know if it’s feasible to set up a Particle mesh device to communicate with a non-Thread zigbee device (as one might with a 52840 dongle?) I have a handful of zigbee nodes I’d like to communicate, and it would be super nice to do so via a Boron, rather than a pi with a USB dongle.
