Using UART and mesh network protocol

Hello,

I’d like to know if it will be possible to connect a sensor or any other device using the RX/TX pins while beeing connect to the mesh network / with BLE.
There is a point that is still not clear for me, will the mesh network be using BLE or is it an other protocol?

@jonas-hab, as I understand it, there is no reason for the serial port at TX/RX to become unavailable while mesh or BLE operate.

The mesh operates on 802.15.4 (2.4GHz similar to Zigbee) and is based on OpenThread protocol.
