Has anyone done testing to confirm that connecting directly to a vehicle battery works with the M8 connector input. Wondering if the voltage regulator will handle the voltage fluctuations induced by the alternator?
For the Tracker One only, you can indeed connect it to a vehicle power system directly. The Tracker One power supply is rated for 90 VDC continuous, and higher transients.
All other devices should have circuitry to protect against the transients. There are three designs in the AN006 Vehicle Power application note that can be used with other devices such as the Boron, B Series, Electron, and E Series.
