[SOLVED]Particle Dev Window not like Docs

Yes, I have version 0.0.24, and I’m running OS X Yosemite on an iMac.

I’ll Ping @suda who is the guy behind this app

Thanks. It seems strange that nobody else has seen this problem. Makes me think I’ve missed something really basic.

@Ric i just downloaded and it ran fine.

Let’s wait for @suda

Hi @Ric

This is certainly strange. Could you try removing the ap, ~/.particledev directory and then download it again? It looks like the app was incorrectly unzipped.

@suda I deleted the app, Particle Dev.app – there is no particledev directory. I downloaded again, and what shows up in downloads is Particle Dev.app, nothing else (the zip file, particle-dev-mac.zip, is automatically moved to the trash). Clicking on that app icon gives me the following (without touching anything else),

The ~/.particledev dir is hidden so you have to show them. If it still wasn’t there, can you zip the app again and share it?

After showing the hidden files, I still don’t see a .particledev directory in my home folder (or any where else). How do I send you the zipped up app?

You can send it using WeTransfer to wojtek@particle.io

Additional question: what version of OS X are you running?

I sent you the file via We Transfer. I’m using OS X Yosemite, 10.10.4

Ok, I’ve checked it on different systems and couldn’t replicate the issue. Could you extend the console and take a screenshot of whole error displayed? This may give a hint where the problem lives.

What I posted is the whole contents of the console, but here it is better formatted,

@Ric seems that your user doesn’t have privileges to create anything in your home directory. Can you try opening Terminal app and typing:
mkdir /Users/janicedelmar/.particledev
and then start Particle Dev again?

I’m not sure why I didn’t have write permission to that directory, since I am logged in as the administrator, but the mkdir command didn’t work unless I put “sudo” in front of it. Anyway, I changed the permissions on that user to allow the administrator read/write access, and re-downloaded the app. It works correctly now. Thank you for your help.

I’m glad it worked  Sorry it took so long to figure out the solution.
