SARA-R510 reset procedure in Device OS 6.2.1

Device OS 6.2.1 is now GA, and is recommended in particular for:

  • Boron 404X (BRN404X)
  • B-Series SoM 404X (B404X)
  • E-Series SoM 404X (E404X)

If the SARA-R510 cellular modem becomes unresponsive on the affected devices, the modem reset procedure will not succeed in some cases. Device OS 6.2.1 fixes this issue so the connectivity can be automatically restored by Device OS.

See TAN015 for additional information.

If one has already deployed on the 6.2.1 pre-release, is there any difference/reason to re-deploy on the GA version other than hygiene?

It was not re-released, it's just that we labeled it as GA instead of pre-release. The binaries are identical so there's no need to update devices that were previously upgraded to 6.2.1.

Thank you for releasing this update! This is a huge deal!

Thanks for the update that 6.2.1 is now considered GA.

Is 6.2.1 LTS? I don't seen any corresponding verbiage in the GH release notes (for either 6.2.0 or 6.2.1).

The docs state, "LTS versions have an even-numbered major version (2.x, 4.x, ...),"... but a precise reading of that would lead me to believe that every LTS version will be (major) even numbered, but not every even (major) numbered release will necessarily be LTS.

The LTS page will be updated in the future, but the essence is:

There won't be separate LTS and preview branches going forward, so there won't be a separate 7.x preview branch.

6.2.0 is GA but not LTS, however a future version of 6.x will be labeled LTS and have extended support.

The reason is that the number of destabilizing changes in Device OS is now small. New device support had to go on the preview branch because they're new development. However there is also a need for stable Device OS for new devices between LTS releases. Thus just labeling certain GA releases as LTS releases as well makes more sense.
