Device OS 5.8.0 Photon2 - if I flash device OS and Tinker I can then local flash but now have tried several times and always fails.
Any advice?
There were issues with USB on RTL872x in 5.7.0. Most were fixed in 5.8.0, but there is a possibility that you are hitting one of the residual issues that hasn't been fixed yet. It will be in a future version, so if you can stay back on 5.6.0 temporarily on P2 and M-SoM, that might be a workaround.
Understood but will need to Zach at MAX 24 event in London next week. My customer has no confidence in P2, 1 year after launch and I am having trouble with flash firmware via USB, SD library functioning, no pairing in BLE, no WPA Enterprise...
