Photon stopped breathing and burned my finger

I just recently jumped into the particle fun (so many ideas) but have run into a problem that i hope is not permanent. My Photon stopped breathing the led and is not showing anything at all. I happen to touch it near the USB plug and actually burned my finger on the little component between the USB connector and the Vin. It doesn’t smell like it’s let the magic smoke out but i’m afraid to plug it in again. Anyone have any suggestions?

There is likely an issue with the photon. Are you able to power the photon via 3v3?

Oh wow it does power with 3.3v. Does that mean the voltage regulator is shot? is that a part I can replace myself?

If I had to guess, the voltage regulator is certainly shot. You could replace the regulator, but it would be much easier to get a replacement photon.
