i asked ChatGPT if photon 2 has a charging circuit built in and it said no, i needed to add an external charger and voltage regulator. the photon spec sheet said there is a charger circuit built in. my plan is to connect a battery and a v5 via USB so the photon will stay active even during power loss.
The Photon 2 does have a built-in charger and JST-PH connector for a LiPo battery. It is designed for your use case with charging when powered by the USB micro B connector.
You have to be a little careful with the battery as the polarity of the connector is not standardized. See the battery guide for the correct battery.
The Photon 1 did not have a battery connector or charger, which probably is confusing AI.
Thanks. I guess AI is not infallible
