OS version for BRN404X deployment

Hi,

We have done development and testing of our BRN404X-based embedded solution using 5.8.0 OS version without realizing that it was a non-LTS branch. Now that we are ready for a larger scale deployment, the question is - should we just stick with 5.8.0 or should we downgrade to 4.2.0, test again and then proceed with deployment?

It depends.

On one hand, Device OS 4.2.0 is the LTS version and is stable and will be supported for a longer length of time.

However, Device OS 5.8.0 should be stable on BRN404X and you are able deploy that version to your fleet if you wish to.

Another consideration is that the next LTS, 6.x, will be based on 5.8.x, not 4.2.0, so starting from 5.8.0 will make the transition to 6.x less risky as they will be very similar.

I was thinking along the same lines and we will stick with 5.8.0 as we have encountered 0 issues so far.
