New Device OS releases in Workbench

As far as I understand, the VSCode extension for Particle Workbench has to be updated for each new Device OS release. The last update was on May 15th, about half an hour after v1.1.0 has been released

At the moment I am waiting for v1.2.0-rc.1, which was released two days ago, to appear in Workbench.

  • When is Particle Workbench updated? Only after production releases?
  • Is there a way to use released versions in Workbench before the extension is updated?

I’ve been wondering when it will be released to workbench as well, but for now I’ve been using compile boron --target 1.2.0-rc.1 in particle CLI to compile local code.

TL;DR - SOON :grin:

in general, we shoot to support new Device OS releases immediately after they are released. sometimes it takes a few days, sometimes a little longer.
