M-Som GNSS Support

Is there a timeline for new M-SoM GNSS support?

From docs

GNSS support will be added in a future version of Device OS.

There isn't a firm date yet. It is still planned, but is far enough out that there isn't a release version or release date at this time.

Hope it will be added to a firmware release soon. The GNSS is a major reason I am updating to M-SoM over the B-SoM. Looks like the M-SoM Particle Console is already updated for the map.

Following up on this, any news for GNSS support in the firmware? It is an important feature for the M-Som series.

For now you can use the particle-som-gnss library to get location infomation from the M-SoM GNSS from user firmware.

Exactly what I am looking for! Thank you.

I recently noticed that my M-SoM console is displaying a "mini-map" along with gateway settings, which seems related to the device's location data. I'm curious if the current library I'm using is responsible for handling the transmission of location data to the Particle console, or if this functionality will be more closely integrated into future OS updates?

The mini-map is generated from the loc event data. The user library above doesn't generate the loc event, but you could combine the location data that is returned, and optionally Wi-Fi scan data, and generate a compatible loc event.

This will be automatic after M-SoM GNSS is integrated with Device OS, but you could do it manually sooner with a little effort.
