I’m curious about something… You can add a GPS module to your particle device…

For instance:

GPS Module GPS NEO-6M(Arduino GPS, Drone Microcontroller, GPS Receiver) Compatible with 51 Microcontroller STM32 Arduino UNO R3 with IPEX Antenna High Sensitivity for Navigation Satellite Positioning https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07P8YMVNT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_aw.DEbFJ8C6F1

Or

Adafruit Ultimate GPS Logger Shield - Includes GPS Module https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E4WEX76/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_hy.DEb47Y33GT

Or even

Adafruit Ultimate GPS FeatherWing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01G00Q5HA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Dy.DEb35TTJT2

But…

Now I see projects connecting these types of addon boards. My question is that based on cellular connection and/or wifi connection you should be able to triangulate the position of a device to close proximity without the GPS addon. Shouldn’t we be able to find out device position this way. I see it being done on computers and cell phones. Using an electron or boron we can find the position with cell towers. With photon and argon we can find it with wifi. Maybe this has been brought up already… I am not aware…

Just a few reasons

Not all cellular modules on the Particle devices support cell tower triangulation.
Not all locations have WiFi coverage.
Cell/WiFi triangulation requires a cloud connection - not all projects can use that.
When available GPS is more accurate.
