Help figuring out a Featherwing Relay

Hi! I’m in an electrical engineering class and trying to work on a final project, but I’m clueless at the moment and would really appreciate any help or input

I need to connect a lamp to my photon P2 using the “ Adafruit Power Relay FeatherWing”

I’ve searched around for beginner guides and I can’t find much helpful stuff and I have a few questions about it.

Firstly, how do I connect a lamp to it? Obviously I don’t plug it in, do I get the cord and connect the metal directly?

Second, how do I power it? Is it a separate battery pack or does the photon power it when it’s connected

Third how do I connect the relay to the photon( along with the code I should use, is it just digital write high and low?)

Honestly, anything would be helpful!

There is documentation on how to configure that feather relay board here.

However, I would suggest not trying to control an actual high voltage lamp because there is a high risk of shock, and even death or fire. A battery powered lantern might be a reasonable alternative.

Thank you! That guides helps a ton, but I do still have some questions about it. Mainly I’m curious about connecting the lantern to the said device. That is my first question,

I’ve found that it is supposed to be connected to the COM pin (in the picture) do I solder a wire from a breadboard to that, or does it come from the lantern itself?

If it is needed to be connected to the breadboard that houses my Photon, how do I connect the lantern to the breadboard to power it?

Hi, maybe following this tutorial will answer plenty of your questions, check it out please:
