Flashing SparkCore OTA without using (bypassing) the reset and mode button

If you wanted handsfree failback, you could modify the bootloader to check to make sure the OTA firmware is running as expected and revert to a previous version without requiring user interaction. There’s been some discussion in the firmware / bootloader repos about implementing something like this as well when the firmware is totally corrupted.

It would be very helpful to us older folks who forget where the reset button is (Just kidding). That would be great if there was a fail safe revert to previous firmware and reboot; don’t worry be happy scheme.

Thanks Dave for info about it being consider.

Hi Spydrop,

That’s one of the most important things. What happens, when you are flashing new firmware and for instance the Wifi connection goes down. In this sitiation always the previous firmware has to be loaded again, otherwise you have a dead core and you have to go to the customer to fix the problem. And that’s a horror scenario, especially if you have thousands of these cores in the field.

Regards.
Albert.
