Is there a way for the Boron 404X to internally calculate the distance between the cell tower it is connected to and itself using the tower's cell global identity? If not, is there another way of doing this?
That is not possible. The Boron 404X can only determine the tower that it's connected to, which can provide a radius of uncertainty that could be as large as 4000 meters. There is no way to determine how far away from the tower you are.
The only way to get more precise location information is to use an external GNSS (GPS), or perhaps Wi-Fi geolocation in some cases.
