Electron Updates via usb sometimes possible sometimes not

@kennethlimcp as I mentioned it is the same problem with 3 electrons as for what this thread is for.

I tried all other hints mentioned in this thread. And for that one electron I started this thread I already got a replacement. But what kind of solution is this that there is so a high reject rate (3 out of 50 at the moment)?

Can i summarize this as the problem:

User firmware is not updating on the electron

The reason why I ask is that the earlier problem you had is that the device does not enter Listening of DFU mode and you had it replaced.

I would do the following:

  1. Place the device in DFU mode
  2. Run particle --version and make sure that i says 1.20.x
  3. Run particle update
  4. Place the device in Listening mode
  5. Run particle serial identify
  6. Check that system firmware is v0.6.1
  7. Place the device in DFU mode
  8. Run particle flash --usb tinker
  9. Hit reset and see if electron connects to the :cloud: and breathes cyan.
  10. Run particle list online and check that the tinker functions are available
  11. Flash the blink an led example from the Web IDE and see that the firmware updates.

Let me know if this is helpful, otherwise, I will let someone official help you along instead.

Thank you for these steps. Unfortunately the firmware did not update :frowning:
