Dfu-util not recognised for Sparkcore

Hello, i have recently been playing around with the photon at work, and have been able to get it to work fine. However i am now working on a project that requires the spark core and i am having a world of troubles trying to set it up. Here are the issues i am having...

First of all i cannot connect it to the wi-fi through the app, (it starts blinking green and never actually connects) so i have been trying to connect it via usb.
The troubles i am having connecting via usb all seem to revolve around the 'dfu-util' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. From my understanding that this just requires me to download/install the dfu driver to my computer. So i followed this tutorial to no success.

Since i am not very confident with this sort of stuff i am stuck on how to solve this issue.

If anyone knows the problem i am having or had any suggestions on how to solve it i would be much appreciative.

Cheers

IF you’ve got the CLI, try particle setup while in listening mode. That shouldn’t require DFU.

Hi, thanks. I have tried particle setup and i can log into my particle account but i am unable detect my device via usb and the computer i am on doesn’t have Wi-Fi. Then if i try it in manual mode i put in all of the internet information and this is what it comes up with. Just obtaining device information and its been like this for over half an hour now. Should i wait? Because it seems like an excessively long time.

Was your Core in Listening mode (blinking blue)?
You could also try particle serial wifi, also in listening mode.

Yea it was blinking blue (in listening mode)
I have tried particle serial wifi before to no avail but tried it again now and this was the response (pretty sure that this is what happened last time i did it, but i cannot rember)

C:\Users\wexp>particle serial wifi

! serial: No devices available via serial

C:\Users\wexp>

Check your cables and see under Device manager that a COM Port appeared after placing the Core in Listening mode…

Did you install the Serial driver too?

It came up as an Unspecified device in the device manager. Here is a screen shot of what it looks like in listening mode.
As for the serial driver is that what i installed with zadig?

Look at the docs for connecting via USB.

Zadig is for dfu driver

That's the devices and Printers interface, not the device manager. Right click the start button to get there easily

Here's a nice tutorial as well

Thanks, i have followed this tutorial but instead of photon i have selected spark core but it comes up saying windows has encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. And it says that this device cannot start. (Code 10). Is there something different that i have to do because it is a core not a photon?

Try deleting all drivers that are installed for it. Connect it in listening mode, and give it another try. That might help.

Just tried deleting it and redoing it and it did the same thing again. Here is a screenshot of what the message said.

Have you tried clicking ‘yes’ ;)?

Yep, this is what happens
