Considering only Photons - what are the fixes or improvements worthwhile considering upgrading to 3.0.0? Looking at github release notes I am struggling to see anything much but would welcome being corrected if this impression is wrong.

@rickkas7 - do you happen to have any more information here? From the changelog I do not see any new features for Gen2 WiFi in 3.x as of yet.
Most of the fixes are for cellular and Gen 3 devices. I believe the only change that affects the Photon (and P1) is the increase of the size of the publish, function argument, and string variables size from 622 to 864 bytes.
