Great tutorial, you should have been a teacher I was surprised that the on power up status comes through live on google docs. Very impressive. You could make one google docs sheet that shows when all your photons boot up. (power off is not as predictable)
OK so now I am moving on to the IFTTT DO button. It is not as obvious how to create these things. Has anyone had any success with the DO button?
Lots of recipes out there, but I canât find out how to make my own.
Spoke to fast. Look in the channels for Particle but only on the App, canât seem to do it from the web Browser on IFTTT.
Works from the Android App.
Hit the back button to get to this screen
Hit the â+â and then Channels
Then select Particle
Then select âCreate a New Recipeâ
Then âCall a Functionâ
Should make some sense from there.
Name it, select your function and then type in the âwith input (Function Input)â the information that gets passed to your function. First time about a 7 second lag. After that about a 2 second lag.
I am experiencing a different problem. I am loosing events instead of getting spurious or multiple events.
I am sending a SMS to my phone when my photon goes âofflineâ (which I assume can be done by pressing the photon reset button). I get the similar results pulling the USB cable. Time between trigger and SMS varies from minutes to forever.
I am getting about a 50% return per the IFTTT log. I am running a simple blink program with one second on and one second off.
Am I doing something wrong or is IFTTT that unreliable?
This is probably a noob question, but Iâm interested in storing the data for my photon events longterm and tried to do it through IFFT google sheets however, it said I reached a usage limit after 10 entries, does anyone know a way around this or can you point me to a tutorials for noobs on how to capture and save this data a different way. Data could come in as fast as busts of events that come in every 3-5 seconds.
Howdy community.
So I just did a test with IFTTT and google sheets. Recorded Temperature and published the date every min (60,000ms). I was getting usage limit exceeded messages this morning so I deleted the applet in IFTTT and recreated it. I was able to log 163 entries into sheets before the âUsage Limit Exceededâ kicked in and stopped the logging. I will run more tests but for now it looks like that is my limit. Basically from 9:37 am to 12:22 pm.
Sure I would be happy to. I did start logging again but stopped at random times. The applet would then start again and either log the missing data or skip 15 mins or so of logs. I will include a link to the google sheets file so you can view the data logged as well. I was able to get a total of 487 readings.
