How and when does Particle update the ESP32 WiFi co-processor firmware?

I’ve done a quick search of community posts and understand that updating ESP32 f/w is not generally supported. However, I’m wondering if, for example, Espressif provided a patch for a WiFi security vulnerability, how would that be rolled out to Argon devices in the field?

Yes, the ESP32 firmware on the Argon can be updated OTA or by USB serial.

It’s done infrequently, but it can be made one of the dependencies of a Device OS update and upgraded with other components like the bootloader or SoftDevice.
