Alpha unit flash error "[ERROR] flashing of devcfg_a failed"

Hi,

Tried to flash my alpha unit to the .172 build a couple times, but they failed with the error in the title. I grabbed tachyon-ubuntu-20.04-NA-desktop-formfactor_dvt-1.0.172.zip from another thread. Happy to provide the full flash log if needed.

Any ideas what’s going on? Thanks!

I also see this during the setup process; unsure if it’s relevant:

Step 8:

Great! The download is complete.

Now, let's register your product on the Particle platform.

Error getting eSIM profiles: This device does not have any allocated eSIM profiles

Hi dcbw. I believe this is related to 1.0.130 being the last release to support Alpha units. Differences between the Alpha units and the final iteration required it. To continue on 1.0.172, you should flash it on a production unit. Hope that helps.

Thanks! Flashing 130 worked. Guess I missed the announcement.

If Particle doesn’t have the time (understandable, given the small number of units) to keep the alphas up-to-date, is there a chance somebody could detail the differences and the community could try to repackage current builds for alphas?

I spoke too soon… flashing works, but it doesn’t boot. Serial console says:
