This might be an obvious question to someone with more EE experience, but why do we boost the voltage up just to cut it back down? Isn’t that just wasting power?
@nfriedly, you are correct, it is inefficient! However, the original battery shield was designed to plug into the USB connector of the Core which requires 5v.
