You can power via the 3v3 pin but only with a 3.3V pin. For the choosatron, you won’t want to do that unless you take the core out from it.
More common to power it via USB though!
however, i remember chosatron being powered by a 9V supply and all you need to do is to power up the choosatron and plug in the usb cable
