Update Atom from 1.7.3 to 1.12.5

Hello,

I am trying to compile a program in the particle local IDE and I keep getting an error telling me to update Atom from 1.7.3 to 1.12.5.

When I try to check for update under the help menu I get a message that there are no updates. Do I need to update Atom manually and if so are there any guides or tutorials on how to update it?

Or could this be caused by something in my code? I can post that if needed. Code compiles and runs in the online IDE but I want to use the local for some trouble shooting and debugging stuff…
