Version 1 of my 2" x 1" proto shield is in and assembled! It works as intended. Now, it’s time to work on version 1.1 with minor adjustments. Version 1.1 will swap the VIN and 3V3 rails in the proto area and add space between the ceramic cap and electrolytic cap. The reason the Photon will not sit flush is because of the electrolytic cap. If I add more room between the caps, I can bend the electrolytic one on its side so that it doesn’t take up so much vertical space. I have submitted v1.1 to OSHPark, so hopefully I’ll have it by early November. If that works as planned, I’ll send out some beta units for feedback and BOM finalization (for barrel connector, caps, and headers).
I just realized that the v1.1 I submitted didn’t have a diode/jumper for VIN. It’s not a deal-breaker for the v1.1 run but will be included in v1.2+! v1.2 also loses the hole in the middle in favor of the diode, but that was really only there to consume space on the board anyways.
For the DHT22 project I have on there now, the barrel connector and capacitors aren’t needed, but I wanted to see how they fit anyways.
