Subscribe to Private "Event Names"?

I have to publish all my commands from IFTTT as Public,
is there a way to subscribe to Private Events in my IDE Code?

Keywords MY_DEVICES and “Device ID”. But this would only work for subscriptions to events published by your own devices.

Right… Is there a way to authenticate to a private event on a friends device that’s not your own?

Not yet (if ever).

This question came up before and the “official” answer was, that the Particle Dashboard would allow for that, but not for free and would be like taking a sledgehammer to crack a nut.
