Running Spark from 3.3Vdc

Is it possible to run the core directly off 3.3Vdc supplied from an external supply? I already have 3.3Vdc on the main board that the Spark plugs into. All circuitry is peripheral running off 3.3Vdc so I really don’t want to add a 5V regulator if I don’t have to.

Thanks

Hi @skeller,

I suspect 3.3v might be a bit too low for the core, I believe you can run the core in the 3.6v to 6v range: http://docs.spark.io/#/hardware/electrical-characteristics-power . (someone please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong  )

edit: I was wrong!

Thanks,
David

I would be powering it directly to the 3.3Vdc terminal of the Spark. That would bypass the voltage regulator.

Hi @skeller - yes, you can run the Core off of 3.3V directly into the 3V3 pin on the Core.

I can confirm this works fine, look here.
