Read Only Access Token

I know currently :spark: does not support Read Only Access Tokens, is there any plan or any talks about this?

This is particularly useful when exposing the core to the outside world, like a web app reading sensor values from a JavaScript (reading from variables), we can have one read only token and another read/write token which will be kept secret.

Hi @krvarma,

Yes! This is an important feature that we’re planning on implementing later this year. :slight_smile:

Thanks,
David

What ever became of the ‘read only token’ initiative?

Thanks

Wow old thread! Better access token scoping is still on the backlog, but it got bumped for other features. I’m hoping we’ll have time to work on it, but I don’t know where it will fall in the queue. If it’s something lots of people want sooner rather than later we can bump it up though!

Thanks,
David

There would be so much more flexibility for things like sensor networks and such. We need to be able to share data without compromising security. So, it would be a big plus for users/developers.

Awaiting the coming ROA token! Thanks for the reply,

@jgeist

Unfortunately this feature hasn’t been prioritized over the last few months, I forwarded your question on to the team, more interest will help us bump it up the backlog! :slight_smile:

I came across this thread while searching for this feature - is there any update on this?
