Long range mesh nodes

Hello experts, I’m in need of some guidance. I have a project where I need the nodes to communicate over a long distant, E.g. 1/4 mile to 1/2 mile. I want to keep cost down and not use LTE. And run on battery for a long time. E.g. 1-2 years. I like the Particle Xenon system. Is there a way to attach a LoRa transceiver? Or am I barking up the wrong tree. Any help or guidance would be appreciated. Thank you.

You can use XBee 900 HP radios or LoRA RFM95 radios. There are threads on both options on the forum.

The official thread mesh range is 10 meters. Outside, line of sight, you can get 30 meters or a bit more without much difficulty using the built-in chip or trace antennas.

I have managed to get to 400 meters, or 1/4 mile, using kind of ridiculously large yagi antennas, but I don’t necessarily recommend doing that.
